Process Diary
KestrelBelly came to me whole, in a single afternoon, the way the best of them do. I drew the stripes first, then the red — the blood that is also a signature, the stain on the one foreleg that tells you which warrior this is. The violet eyes were the last thing I put down, because they had to be earned by everything else on the page. The spiral binding is still in the margin. I left it on purpose. The warrior belongs to the book.
