Process Diary
Built the fire myself out of cinder blocks, because I wanted it held — something that had walls and stayed lit inside them regardless. Everything past the rim of the pit is black, and that is the point: no horizon, no sky, no witness. Only the work of the flame against the stone it is not allowed to leave. I let it burn down to coals and shot that too, but this is the frame where it was still trying. I keep this one near me: the reminder that the light does not need an audience, or a cathedral, or anyone coming to save it. It only needs to keep burning where it stands.
